The Limited Edition Nike Lunarglide+ 3 "Chicago Marathon" will be available this Saturday at Akin, a Chicago-based sneaker store. Available only in small quantities, Akin will also have a food, prizes, and DJ Markyboy as part of the release event. The Nike Store in Chicago will also have the shoes, perfect for use in the actual Chicago Marathon a week later.
Designed by artist Tara D. and heavily influnced by elements unique to the Second City, this is the second year that Nike has tapped into the Chicago Marathon for some limited edition shoes. This year, other cities have been tapped to have special versions of the Lunarglide+ 3, including New York, San Francisco, Berlin, and Beijing. No word on when those shoes will be coming out, but chances are it'll be right around the time of their respective marathons.

300+ officers assist in massive south Phoenix drug sweep
Phoenix police tell ABC15 Tuesday's bust puts a major dent in the Valley's illegal drug business.
They said David Mosely was the ringleader, and suspects are now behind bars with him.
"What we did is we took off what we believe are the main suppliers and sources of illegal narcotics and illegal drugs into this community and into the Valley," Phoenix Police Sgt. Sean Connolly said.
Investigators believe Mosely would bring uncut powder cocaine over the border and have his workers at "cook houses" turn that into massive amounts of crack cocaine.
Those drugs would be divided and work their way to street level dealers.
Officers say the lucrative business of drug-dealing would bring rival gangs together.
"Gangs that have never worked together, criminal street gangs working together collaboratively for the sake of making money and distributing narcotics into this community," Connolly said.
He said they would also see violence stem from the drug-trade.
"They were involved drug rips, home invasions, and when we started to put these relationships together, we were amazed at the communication and collaboration that went on between these drug dealers," Connolly said.
Phoenix Police Sgt. Trent Crump said 17 firearms were recovered along with $170,000 in cash, and 19 pounds of cocaine.
Crump said dozens of vehicles were seized. Over $350,000 in vehicles came from one suspect, including vintage vehicles found hidden in storage units.

La dolce vita in brand-name paradise
If there is one thing Chinese consumers love, it's a bargain. Another thing they adore is brand-name goods, and these two elements have been concocted into a heady mix that is turning some centers into luxury goods meccas that are attracting well-known companies from home and abroad.
RDM Group, the real estate arm of the Italian fashion, retail and real estate outfit the Fingen Group, opened an outlet center in China in June, in partnership with the US Waitex Group.
Florentia Village is located in Tianjin, close to Beijing. It is the first Chinese development in RDM's international portfolio of retail assets. More than 1 billion yuan (115 million euros) has been pumped into the village, which covers 60,000 square meters and hosts nearly 200 outlets.
The shopping center is built in the architectural styles of Rome, Venice and Florence. A canal runs through the village, and there are gondolas, a central arena, bridges, fountains, squares and porticos.
Many famous international and domestic fashion premium brands, such as Prada, Fendi, Bulgari, Giorgio Armani, Salvatore Ferragamo, Versace, Burberry, Zegna and Tod's are there. Most significantly, it is the first time for Prada, Fendi and Bulgari to open outlet stores in China.
RDM vaunts not only the scale of the big brands it has attracted, but also the village's location. Getting there from Beijing takes just 20 minutes by high-speed train, which delivers passengers virtually to the front door of the village.
The top brands believes the location was the optimum one, says Ivano Poma, chairman and CEO of Florentia Village and managing director of RDM Asia. It can satiate the desire of people from two big cities for bargains, he says.
Customers from Beijing bring strong spending power, he says, and Tianjin, with its surging GDP, has huge potential.
Putting its money where it says its faith is, the company has leased the land for 40 years.
The World Luxury Association says that last year the sales value of luxury goods in China was $10.7 billion (7.8 billion euros), excluding spending on private jets, yachts and luxury cars, making the country the world's second-largest consumer of luxury goods after Japan. Chinese spent the most in overseas luxury markets last year, with almost $50 billion in Europe, the association says.
It says Chinese consumption of consumer goods and services is greater than 25 percent of the global total, and that nearly two-thirds of the top international brands now operate in China. The country is expected to overtake Japan as top luxury goods consumer, and its domestic consumption of top brands will be about $14.6 billion in 2012.
It was the right time to enter the Chinese market as full-price stores continued to open, Poma says.
Top brands, wanting to safeguard their market position and profile, prefer to burn unsold goods rather than sell them in a bazaar, he says.
"So upscale outlets can help them solve the problem. (The) outlet industry is complementary to the full-price business. The two have to move (in tandem). Our company (has) contracts with those brands to ensure (only genuine goods are sold)."
They can provide products available not only in Europe, but throughout the world, he says.
These may be off-season items, but within two years of their being sold at full price globally, they are selling at Florentia Village with a discount of 30 percent, he says. "We want to define customers (in ways other) than (by) their income."
A second part of the village development, complete with children's amusement park, will open in October, and customers will be able to buy nearly 160 more brands, such as Nike and adidas, as well as other domestic and international sports wear and shoes.
By next June the village is expected to have brought in 1.3 billion yuan in revenue, Poma says. "The customer flow is 8,000 to 24,000 every week, with the average number reaching 10,000 to 20,000 at weekends. The top three popular brands are Prada, Burberry and Coach and the (most) bought goods are accessories."
When China Daily visited the Village recently, there were many couples and families enjoying the day out, strolling about or simply sitting and lapping up the open air. The Italy-themed setting proved to be a hit with photographers. Other visitors wandered into shops but most seemed to come out empty-handed. The 3,500-capacity car park has been almost full some Saturdays.
In many of the upmarket outlets, shop assistants garbed in somber formal attire conversed with customers - in most there were fewer than 30 at any time - explaining products and prices. Most shoppers then put the products back on shelves before leaving.
At the Prada outlet a staff member asked customers to wait in a line outside the entrance, but once inside it became clear that such an invitation was redundant because there were so few customers.
A bag said to be half-priced, at 7,500 yuan, was one of the cheapest leather bags in the shop. "There's a big discount on this," a salewoman said. "The full-priced one only went on sale at the beginning of this year. This really is a great bargain, because others only have 30 percent off."
In contrast to Prada, Burberry did not ask shoppers to line up, but the shop was packed. But customers there, too, were decidedly tight-fisted despite the discounts. Fitting rooms remained empty and no one was making a beeline to the cash register.
"I have checked the prices and bags in top-brand shops here," says a young woman surnamed Yuan. "Though they are cheaper than those in full-price stores in Beijing, I am really struggling to buy one Most of the prices are about the same as in full-price shops overseas. So I would rather buy a bag while I am travelling abroad."
Others were not so skeptical.
"We have come all this way," says a middle-aged customer. "I drove almost two hours from Beijing to get here. My wife and I think we should at least buy an affordable shirt."
Whether outlet store centers really do offer luxury goods at reasonable prices or not, they are flourishing in China. In Beijing there are at least five, one of them being Beijing Scitech Premium Outlet Mall. With its colonial style architecture, the mall has 200 brands and it forecasts revenue of 1.2 billion yuan this year. It plans to open seven to eight branches nationwide over the next five years.
The two investors in Florentia Village, Italian RDM and US Waitex, also plan to open more outlet centers in China. The chairman of Waitex, Li Xuehai, says five outlets will be built nationwide over the next five years. Two of them, in Shanghai and in Chongqing, will open next year.
DTZ, a leading global real estate adviser said China's outlets industry will boom in the next five years. Its retail service China director, Zhang Jiapeng says, "China's outlet industry is growing 30 percent every year. Some capital cities such as Hangzhou already have outlets as well. So we are optimistic about the industry."
Wan Wenying, vice-president of China General Chamber of Commerce, and the woman said to have introduced the outlets format to China, said in a speech in Shanghai last month that there are about 500 outlet centers worldwide, almost half in the US and about 100 in Europe.
"This business will develop quickly together with the booming middle class. But we need government support in customs and legal matters. Only then can we set up authentic outlets in China."

Tension in the air as Pirates take on opponents in Soccer Premier League
If you ever thought that watching a Gor Mahia or AFC Leopards midweek match at the Nyayo National Stadium is where you get the ultimate experience of a night match, then you have to visit the Orlando Stadium in Soweto and feel the energy and tension in the air as the home team Pirates take on one of the teams in the Soccer Premier League (SPL).
I have always thought Gor Mahia and sometimes AFC have the most loyal colourful fans across Africa, but it was until I was proven wrong when I got to the Orlando Stadium together with a group of journalists from Kenya, Uganda and Zambia on a SuperSport sponsored tour, on Saturday night as Pirates played Mamelodi Sundowns in a PSL match.
Just as you drive to the stadium you just feel the tension in the air but wait until you get inside the stadium when the match is on and you will be forgiven if think you are not watching a match in an African league.
The atmosphere is more like in the English Premier League or the Spanish La Liga but with the African culture on show this is what every football lover would wish to be part of.
Fans here come in all sorts of attire and I was surprised to see a Pirates fans in a flowing robe complete with the logo of sea robbers but was carrying bible and the stadium should be the last place to see someone carrying the holy book.
Colourful attireTo make it even more interesting, fans were either in Pirates or Sundowns jerseys, no one was in either Arsenal, Man United or Chelsea jersey while watching Gor, AFC, Mathare or Sofapaka, does that sound familiar?
As if that was not enough, the fans in the colourful attire don’t converge in one place never mind that the entire stadium is enclosed just like Kasarani as there is no fear of being rained on if you are at the ‘Russia’ stand at the Nyayo Stadium.
The fans each have their particular places where they cheer their team on and they prefer to stand throughout the match even though there are seats all over the stadium.
But then one may ask about the organisation as fans get into the 40,000-seater stadium.
The movement of fans in and out of the stadium here is just an experience that one would want to have in Kenya especially when the issue of the fans who died in the Gor and AFC Leopards match comes to mind.
For those who get into the stadium in their vehicles will just park as indicated in their tickets. Tickets not only show where one will sit, but it also shows where one will park.
And for those who park outside the stadium — and they were quite a number who did that on Saturday — you just find your way to the stadium in many of the entrances without much trouble and at no time did I see people trying to force their way into the stadium.
Once inside the precincts of the stadium, depending on where your seat is, you can find your way there via the lifts, which go up to, the third floor or you can use the stairs.
Presidential suiteThe journalists also have their own suite and before they even get into the lift to get to the suite they are welcomed at the reception just next to the lifts by staff of Pirates where you get details of the club apart from getting the starting line ups of both the teams and what formation each coach is going to use.
Apart from the media suite, just next to it there is the Super Suite which they also call the presidential suite and here you don’t get in there without official attire and even if you manage to go in dressed in a jeans then you should not be in sports shoes.
But to the fans in the stadium, the singing and booing is non-stop but the good thing is that they don’t boo at the officials for bad calls but they boo the opposition when they have possession of the ball and it becomes even louder when they get a shot off target or lose possession.
Both sets of fans also enjoy themselves in their own way which they think will make their teams play well and at no time will you see an opposing fan going to confront the other, food for thought for our fans back in Kenya?
After the match which ended in a barren draw, you will also be surprised as how the stadium clears very quickly without any incident and also outside there is no looting or cars being vandalised and remember this is Soweto where as you have heard before, it is supposed to be a hub of crime.

2 budding stars go for broke on '2 Broke Girls'
The gals who play the 2 broke girls are cracking each other up.
As their interview takes place in late July, Beth Behrs and Kat Dennings can count a grand total of one week spent working together. That was when they filmed the pilot for "2 Broke Girls" — and that was in April.
But joining a reporter for breakfast at Mel's Drive-in, a Valley landmark, they share laughs and a chemistry that seems years in the making — just as they do on their sassy new comedy as struggling waitresses at a Brooklyn greasy spoon. ("2 Broke Girls" premieres Monday at 9:30 p.m. EDT, before settling into its regular slot on Sept. 26 at 8:30 p.m., hammocked between the CBS hits "How I Met Your Mother" and "Two and a Half Men.")
While waiting for production to resume in early August, they solidified their friendship.
Kat: "We've been checking in with each other every few days."
Beth: "I'll randomly text Kat about something I'm watching on TV in the middle of the night: 'You need to see this! ' "
Kat: "Like, ' "Extreme Makeover" did WHAT?!' "
No actorly exchanges about process or technique?
"Oh, no!" Beth laughs. "We don't talk about work at all."
"Should we?" poses Kat, her eyebrow raised.
Orders are taken. Beth chooses an omelet and hash browns. Kat calls for wheat toast and, more urgently, a cup of joe.
"Nectar!" she rejoices when the coffee arrives. "And it's not bad."
"I like diner coffee," Beth agrees as her cell phone sounds off.
"Oh, gee," she sighs after checking the number displayed. "This guy has been calling me all morning. I don't say my name on my message, so maybe he thinks I'm someone else. He keeps leaving these intense, long messages."
"Let me do it, let me do it!" says Kat, eagerly snatching the phone and, in the guttural tone of a longshoreman, growling into it: "WHAT!!! Who IS this? WRONG number! NEVER call again!!!"
They both dissolve into laughter.
"That makes me SO happy!" Kat giggles.

Kat plays sarcastic, street-wise Max Black, who, to make ends meet, must work two jobs, one of which is the night shift at the downtrodden Williamsburg Diner.
Beth plays chic Caroline Channing, whose ritzy Upper East Side lifestyle has abruptly come undone after her money-manager father got busted for financial shenanigans. Like Max, Caroline is now broke, too, and is seeking refuge at the diner waitressing alongside Max, who warily receives her not only as a co-worker but as a flat-mate, too.
So not only is "2 Broke Girls" a buddy comedy, it's also a fish-out-of-water sitcom, with Caroline the Brooklyn-beached fish.
The dialogue is snappy, befitting the show's topflight creative team: Michael Patrick King ("Sex and the City") and Whitney Cummings (TV's comedy "It" girl who is represented on the fall schedule by this show as well as her new starring sitcom, "Whitney," on NBC).
But beyond its writing, the charm of "2 Broke Girls" comes down to its 2 leading ladies.
In playing their roles, they both speak of trying to avoid stereotypes.
"Caroline is a girl who used to walk out of her New York high-rise with a car waiting and someone there to hand her a Starbucks," says Beth. "For me to play her, I had to find the entitlement without being a bitch."
"Caroline's really sweet and innocent and adorable," Kat declares. "I think that's a fresh approach."
"And she's smart," Beth adds. "She went to Wharton business school. I don't think Max would have taken to her if she weren't smart."
"Max is more and more impressed with Caroline as she gets to know her," Kat agrees.
"And because Max takes a liking to Caroline, it shows she's more than a tough cookie," says Beth.

Beth, whose credits include theater as well as the feature films "American Pie: Book of Love" and the upcoming indie comedy, "Serial Buddies," is a whippet-slender blonde with an unexpected past playing competitive soccer in school.
Kat is a curvy brunette with smoldering eyes and alabaster skin. Her list of films includes "The 40-Year-old Virgin" and "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist," and, a decade ago, she played Bob Saget's teenage daughter on his short-lived TV comedy "Raising Dad."
Despite the sexy Mutt-and-Jeff contrast they strike, the two women, curiously enough, stand about the same height.
"I'm 5-feet-5," Beth reports. "But the shoes make me 6 feet. Those beautiful Louboutins! But when I was wearing them it was really hard not to hang on to Kat, 'cause I'm really clumsy."
"I'm just under 5-feet-4," Kat says. "But Beth and I are on such different scales: She's on a Barbie scale, and I'm on a G.I. Joe scale. MY head is like two times the size of HER head!"
"Your head doesn't look any bigger to me than my head," Beth insists.

"But they had already sent me all your tapes," Kat recalls, "and I watched them and thought, 'Do they really NEED to test her? She's obviously the person. Just hire her!' "
"Later that day," says Beth, "I got the call."
Except then they had to wait to see if CBS would pick up the series.
"The more days that went by, the more doubts I had," Kat says. She was back in Los Angeles and at the wheel of her car when she got the good news from Whitney Cummings.
"She texted me," says Kat, "and I pulled over and cried because, I couldn't drive and cry."

Random police officers on Segways and mountain bikes yelling at anyone who pauses for more than a second at the curb. The bewildering setup of most terminals, where one airline owns 90% of the place and if you're not flying that airline, you have to pull out an Ouija board and ask the spirits beyond how to get to your airline's ticket counter.
But when you mix in inexperienced travelers, self-entitled dickheads and complete morons, the experience becomes hell. Not just metaphorical hell, where you pass off a really difficult situation as "hell." No, I mean fire and brimstone, suffering for all eternity, et cetera -- because it pretty much drives those of us who travel regularly to want to murder a bitch. And I'm not really up on my Bible learnin' these days, but one thing I do remember is that murdering someone sends you right to the devil's playground. I don't wanna go there, so I'm going to try to fix you instead.
The majority of this guide is pointed at those of you who are inexperienced travelers. I don't hold much hope that I can change self-entitled dickheads -- for one thing, they don't read blogs. They're too busy watching real-time updates of their stocks to go enrich their brain meat with the thoughts of others. Plus, it's the thoughts of others, which don't matter to them. And I've lived enough of a life to know that you'll never fix the moron problem without the handy application of a flamethrower.

- Get there on time. Rule Number One. First and foremost, numero uno, without question the most important and, honestly, easy thing you can do to make air travel less painful for everyone is get there on time. Most airports will cut off checking of baggage at the ticket counter 45 minutes before departure time. Lines can take some time. If you are checking a bag, get there an hour and a half before your flight leaves, minimum. If you're not checking a bag, please for the love of God check in before you get to the airport over the internet. This will let you walk right to security. But if you don't, remember that lines take time.
- Don't break in line. I get it -- your shoes cost more than my car. I don't care. It doesn't matter how fucking important you are on the ground at your company where you sell whatever widget you sell. In the airport, we're all the same. If you were that important, you'd have your own private jet. You're here at the airport, though, so fuck you. Get in line. Wait in line. Don't bitch about how important the meeting is that you're going to be late for. If you followed Rule Number One it wouldn't be a problem. And also? I'm not your employee or your kid, so if you try to break in line in front of me, I'm going to call you out. Loudly. And I encourage everyone in every airport to do the same to assholes who do this. Trust me, they'll back down.
- Before you even get to the metal detectors, put everything that isn't your shirt, pants, socks and underwear in your carry-on. Not your pockets, your carry-on. Don't wait until you get up there to do it. I use a backpack with a front zipper pouch that I specifically leave empty, so that when I travel, I can dump everything into that one pouch. Phone, wallet, ring, belt, gum, chapstick... EVERYTHING.
- Everyone has to remove their shoes. This may soon be changing, but until it does, you gotta take them off. And If you don't want your bare feet to touch the floor, wear socks. It's common knowledge by now. If you don't wear socks, it's not my fault. I don't want to hear about how dirty the floor is, and neither does anyone else in line. We're all annoyed already, you're just adding to the pain. And don't wear your calf-high Doc Martens which take a month to peel off your foot either.
- Shoes go in their own bin, as do laptops / iPads / tablets. Some airports are more lenient than others, but to save everyone time in case you're at one that isn't, just put your shoes in their own bin, and your laptop / computing device in another.
- Seriously, enough with the jewelry. You're flying, not attending cotillion. There's no need for 31 pounds of gold and platinum. This is actually the case all day, every day, no matter where you go, because you look like a guido retard. But that's another post. Walking through the metal detectors will get your metal detected. So take the shit off. Please.
- Wait until the "security" person tells you to step through the metal detector / scanner. They will bark at you if you don't, and that holds up the line.
- Save the protests / bitching / attitude with the TSA. That's what Twitter is for. We're all equally resentful of the process the TSA puts us through. If you really want to protest, pull a John Madden and stop flying. None of us in line are going to sympathize with your plight, because we're sympathizing with our own plight. Rise up and rebel if you're going to, just get the fuck out of line before you do, thanks.
- PLEASE check the guidelines for what can be carried on before you try to carry it on. Don't know where to look? Here, I'll help. A two minute check of your carry-on will save you massive headaches and postage fees mailing your Leatherman back to yourself.
- If you want to change your seat, ask the gate agent BEFORE they start boarding. If you got there on time, this shouldn't be a problem. They're trying to board us, and we all want to board. Your middle seat is your problem if you didn't try to fix it before this point.
- Don't crash the gate. Okay, so if you look at your ticket, you will see the word "Zone" followed by a number. They will call this number shortly after the number before it, unless your number is "1" which likely isn't the case because you're reading this, and Diamond Premiere Platinum Ultrazord flyers don't read blogs, as previously discussed. You will earn exactly nothing whatsoever by getting to the gate before everyone else. There's no need to stack up five deep at the queue waiting for them to call your number. You will get on the plane. It's okay to just chill. I promise.
- Sit in your seat first. I'll admit -- I violate this sometimes. I'm HUGE. I hate sitting in middle seats, and sometimes I can't get a seat change. But when I do it, I take a seat before my own so if the passenger who rightly owns the seat shows up, I can just scoot to the row behind. Unless you're really good at that, don't take a seat that isn't yours, because you hold up the boarding process by needing to travel against the grain of the line to get on board.
- Use YOUR overhead compartment. Not kidding here, it's bullshit to think you deserve more than one spot in the overheads, and when you do this, you end up crowding out people who board later. Which means you're taking compartments that aren't yours. If I get to my seat and witness someone putting their coat and handbag and camera case and other shit that can fit under the seat in front of them into my compartment, I grab it, ask "Is this yours?" and when they say yes, I say "Here" and hand it to them. Now, because I look how I look, I get away with this 10 times out of 10. You may have worse luck, you may not. But if you follow this rule, we won't need luck, because we'll all get along.
- If you've got the aisle seat, you don't get both armrests. Even I don't do that, and as I've mentioned before, I'm massive. I also try not to sit with my legs splayed out which crowds the person next to me.
- You should have pee'd and poo'd before you got on. You're supposed to be a big boy and/or girl. When you use the lavatory while the plane is taxiing for take off, you violate procedure -- and again, I don't care about how much bullshit you think the procedure is, it is the procedure. Your protests are your own business, when they don't affect my flight. If you get up when we're taxiing, you'll keep us all on the ground and we will lose our place in line to take off, which means we sit on the runway until we can get a spot, which means they turn off the engines to save fuel, which means the air conditioning turns off, which means we all sweat and the plane stinks and FUCK YOU FOR BEING THIS WAY. Stay in your damn seat until they tell you you can get up.
- Listen to the flight attendant, please. She's not being a bitch. He's not being a dick. They're doing their job... Their shitty, shitty job of being a waiter in a cramped restaurant 30,000 feet in the sky. They have heard it all. They have seen it all. Don't be a dick, and chances are, they won't be one either.
- Conversation is for those who want conversation. It's natural to want to strike up a conversation with someone you're going to be sharing a seat with for a few hours. It's part of the human condition, and a nice thing to do to pass the time. I've made several friends this way. But if I'm sending clear signals that I don't really want to talk, please don't push it. If I have my headphones on, guess what -- it's less likely that I really, really dig the song on my iPod and more likely that I just don't want to be bothered. It's nothing personal. Tap me on the shoulder if you need something or if I'm snoring, otherwise, just let me be.

Crying babies aren't so bad until they just won't shut up. You could get up after the seat belt sign is turned off and take it to the back... That'd be nice. But if your kid isn't a baby and keeps yelling and yammering and throwing a tantrum, figure that shit out before I duct tape its mouth shut and hog tie it.

"Some of our guys kind of talked to him and made him realize the role that he needed to play. I think the light went off then.
"Since that time he's really established himself."
Wilson won't be alone. Also returning are fellow tailbacks Stephen Salinas (519 yards) and D.J. Monroe (376), as well as quarterback LiDarral Bailey (851).

Last season, the Crusaders only played four games at their home turf (Tiger Field). They went undefeated during the year, but their closest wins came on the road. That included a 19-point rally to beat Wisconsin-La Crosse (24-19), a four-point win over Louisiana College and an overtime victory over East Texas Baptist.
UMHB's four home wins last year came by an average of 36 points.
"It's really exciting," Fredenburg said. "I think that our fans are excited to have six home ballgames. We paid for it last year in all the away trips, but it will be fun to have six home ballgames."
Young line takes over
Six Crusaders will make their debuts Saturday — four will be across the offensive front.
"It's a point of concern," Fredenburg said.
UMHB must replace All-Americans in tackle Max Taylor and center Dustin Davis, and an all-conference guard in Ryan Krause. The replacements — sophomore center Jacob Hunter, junior guard Jonathan Green and junior tackle Sam Maxie — have some experience, playing in a combined 22 games last season.
